2. Takedown Notice Requirements

- ◆A physical or electronic signature of a person authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed.
- ◆Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed, or, if multiple copyrighted works at a single online site are covered by a single notification, a representative list of such works at that site.
- ◆Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing or to be the subject of infringing activity and that is to be removed or access to which is to be disabled, and information reasonably sufficient to permit us to locate the material (specifically, the URL of the content).
- ◆Information reasonably sufficient to permit us to contact you, such as an address, telephone number, and, if available, an electronic mail address.
- ◆A statement that you have a good faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- ◆A statement that the information in the notification is accurate, and under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed.
3. How to Submit a Notice
For the fastest response, please email your completed takedown notice to dmca@halftone.news.
Please note: Under Section 512(f) of the DMCA, any person who knowingly materially misrepresents that material or activity is infringing may be subject to liability.
We will respond to valid and complete notices within ten (10) business days.
4. AI Synthesis & Attribution
Halftone News uses an AI synthesis pipeline to generate original, balanced coverage derived from multiple sources. Our synthesis process is designed to be transformative, factual, and neutral.
Every synthesized article includes clear attribution and direct links to the original source outlets. We do not reproduce source text in its entirety.
When submitting a takedown notice, please identify the specific synthesized content at issue on Halftone News. Notices that generally reference source articles without identifying infringing synthesis on our platform may be rejected for insufficiency.
5. Counter-Notice Process
If you believe your content was removed or access to it was disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification, you may submit a counter-notification to our Designated Agent. Your counter-notification must include:
- ◆Your physical or electronic signature.
- ◆Identification of the material that has been removed or to which access has been disabled and the location at which the material appeared before it was removed or access to it was disabled.
- ◆A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief that the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification.
- ◆Your name, address, and telephone number.
- ◆A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the Federal District Court for the judicial district in which your address is located (or Miami-Dade County, Florida if your address is outside of the U.S.), and that you will accept service of process from the person who provided the original takedown notice.
6. Repeat Infringer Policy
In accordance with the DMCA and other applicable law, Halftone News has adopted a policy of terminating, in appropriate circumstances and at our sole discretion, the accounts of users who are deemed to be repeat infringers. We may also, at our sole discretion, limit access to the site or terminate the accounts of any users who infringe any intellectual property rights of others, whether or not there is any repeat infringement.
