1. About Halftone News

Halftone News is an automated news publication that synthesizes balanced, factual coverage by drawing on two independent sources representing opposing political perspectives on the same story. Every article published through our automated pipeline is clearly labeled AI-Generated and includes attribution to both source outlets.

Halftone News does not produce original reporting. It does not editorialize, endorse, or represent the political views of any individual, organization, or publication. Our mission is to present the same news story through two lenses — and let you read both.

2. AI-Generated Content Disclosure

All articles produced by our automated pipeline are synthesized by an AI writing system. This means:

• ◆The article was generated by an AI agent, not a human journalist.
• ◆The content is derived from two independently published news sources, both of which are credited within every article.
• ◆The synthesis is designed to be factual, neutral, and transformative — not a copy of either source.
• ◆The AI-Generated label appears on every automated article before the article body, in compliance with applicable AI content disclosure requirements.

Halftone News makes reasonable efforts to ensure factual accuracy, but we cannot guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any AI-generated article. If you believe an article contains a factual error, please use our Corrections process.

3. Contributor & User Submissions

Registered users may submit article links for consideration in our publication pipeline. By submitting a URL, you agree that:

• ◆You are submitting a link to a publicly available news article, not your own original writing.
• ◆The submitted URL does not point to opinion, editorial, commentary, satire, or sponsored content.
• ◆You have not submitted the same URL previously, and you are not attempting to manipulate the publication queue.
• ◆You understand that submitted articles undergo the same automated quality, opinion, and moderation filters as our regular pipeline.

4. Contributor Badges & Milestone Rewards

Halftone News recognizes active contributors through a badge and milestone system:

Badges are a recognition of contribution activity, not editorial authority. Halftone News reserves the right to revoke badges if an account is found to have violated these Terms.

5. Independent Voices

Halftone News maintains a separate Independent Voices section for content submitted by independent journalists and creators outside the mainstream press. Independent Voice articles:

• ◆Are clearly labeled as originating from an independent source.
• ◆Have not been cross-referenced against an opposing-lean article.
• ◆Include an AI-generated summary and a direct link back to the original source.
• ◆Carry a disclaimer informing readers that the political lean has not been independently verified by Halftone News.

Independent Voice content does not appear in the main news feed. It is a distinct content section with distinct editorial standards.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• ◆Attempt to scrape, copy, redistribute, or republish Halftone News content in bulk without permission.
• ◆Submit fabricated, misleading, or manipulated URLs intended to game the editorial pipeline.
• ◆Create multiple accounts to circumvent submission limits or bans.
• ◆Use our platform to distribute spam, malware, or harmful content.
• ◆Impersonate another user, journalist, or organization.
• ◆Attempt to reverse-engineer, interfere with, or disrupt the operation of the platform.

Violation of these terms may result in immediate account suspension and, where applicable, reporting to relevant authorities.

7. Subscriptions & Billing

Halftone News offers a paid subscription for an ad-free reading experience, billed per subscription period. By subscribing:

• ◆You authorize us to charge your payment method at the stated rate.
• ◆Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date.
• ◆You may cancel at any time through our self-serve billing portal. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period — no partial refunds are issued.
• ◆Pricing is subject to change with advance notice provided via email.
• ◆All payment processing is handled by a third-party payment provider. Halftone News does not store your credit card information.

8. Email Alerts & Newsletter

By creating an account or subscribing to our newsletter, you agree to receive category-based email alerts according to your preferences. You may manage your frequency preferences (instant, daily, weekly, monthly, or none) at any time from your account settings. All emails include a valid unsubscribe link and are sent in compliance with applicable anti-spam laws. A physical mailing address is included in all email footers as required by law.

9. Intellectual Property

All synthesized article content published by Halftone News is the property of Halftone News. Original source articles remain the property of their respective publishers and are credited accordingly.

The Halftone News name, logo, visual design, and brand identity are protected intellectual property. You may not reproduce or use them without written permission.

10. Corrections Policy

Halftone News is committed to factual accuracy. If you believe an article contains a material factual error, you may submit a correction request through our Corrections page. We review all requests and issue corrections on the affected article when warranted. Corrections are logged publicly on the article.

11. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

Halftone News content is provided as-is, for informational purposes only. We make no warranty that the content is accurate, complete, or up to date. We are not liable for any decisions made based on content published on this site.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Halftone News shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of Miami-Dade County, Florida.

13. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email to registered users. Continued use of the site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
